View Full Version : My Dog - Batty

yes, that's her name, haha, and it suits her. I named her after the character in Fern Gully (voice by Robin Williams) even though she's a 'she'... the general attitude and mental 'awareness' just fits. :) (and we adore her crazy head). I always have trouble with drawing her and have never tried painting her before, so I decided to give it a go. It's a 9x6 on canvas paper. She's a 5-year old papillon.

Sorry for this, but after staring at it for a while I noticed I didn't quite fill the left side (as you look at it) cheek area quite enough, so I did a little work on it, but I couldn't edit my original post anymore. So had to post again.

You can tell she has the perfect name! I love the movement in her fur as well.

Great job on her eyes she is cute. I know this kind of fur is hard to do because I am in the processes of trying to paint a little dog that has similar fur. It is driving me crazy so Good job :)

Thanks Rosanne. I have tried several times to get her. She's tough because I can't get a good picture of her either because of all the solid black on her face. She always has that goofy expression though... lol.

Hubby loves the painting (I did it for him, Batty has him wrapped. lol) and I was kind of moaning about how difficult it is to get a good picture of her to go from, and he reminded me that I never used my actual camera to take them (always used the phones)... Okay, so here's an actual photo of Batty (and she actually had her mouth shut for a change).

I'm going to have to give painting her another go now that I actually have a photo to reference that actually shows shades.

She is a cutie Tami. Look forward to seeing the next painting of her.
