Evokes the "you are there" feeling strongly. I like the red against the muted colors, and the knifework on the closest leaves is so confident.

This is very nice. I wish I could use the knife like this. Love it.

Another one of yours I somehow missed when it was first posted. I love the soft light in this, and the way the composition just draws me right in. And - of course - the juicy paint application. Very nice.

Very nice technique with the knife! (It's not as easy as it looks.)

Echoing everything said above. A really strong work. Your paintings are consistently beautiful and seem always to capture the light with great subtlety. I have started to experiment with painting knives and your paintings are an inspiration. I would be interested to hear how and why you got started with knives, and anything about your technique and process that you would share. Also whether you can recommend any books or videos. Many thanks for sharing your work.

Thanks a lot DMSS .
I was a fine painter, even trompe l'oeil. Then I started with watercolor and worked there more spontaneous. This I also wanted with oils. The perfect tool is than the painting knife of course . In the beginning, it is indeed not easy but, as with all disciplines, exercise is the key.
1 )I begin by setting up the drawing, very brief. 2) I'll paint the colors with the brush and very thin . This is already a bit to create the light and look for the color composition. This goes very quickly. Max. 10 min. 3) I work with two knives. The size of the blades will depend on the size of the canvas .
4) I mix on the pallet, but also on the canvas. When you paint with the knife on the canvas you should pay attention that the paint does not become "dirty" , you will discover that by exercise. As soon as possible I go to make a video.......................................JAN /
