Finished tonight. Done for my wife for the new bathroom. Utrect Artists Acrylic, limited palette Cad red light, Aliz crimson, Cad yellow med, Hanza yellow pale, Ultramarine blue, Burnt umber, Utrect gesso for white.
11x14 canvas panel.
The rocks were a challenge. C&C welcome. From a cropped version of a reference library image.

The colors show up a little cooler and flatter from my phone camera.

Very Well Done! Rocks look fine. Maybe a little more detail on the grass up front although your depth looks good to me.

wonderful job......rocks look good to me.....only comment is I would have left the figures out...clouds and lighthouse look great...nicely painted....:thumbsup:

I went back and forth about thw figures. I didnt like the ones in the reference. I put them in for a few reasons. First to tell a story. A dad and kid visiting the lighthouse. Perhapse pointing out something interesting or explainging how it works. A personaly note in hopefully one day that will be me.
Second reason was to help scale the lighthouse, make it seem more impressive.
Third, i was trying with the pointing hand to redirect attention back to the lighthouse.
Maybe it doesent work on all 3 levels.

I would suggest adding a third figure, perhaps another child. Figures always look better in a composition in odd number groups.

I've straightened your image and removed excess material ....... the l'house appeared to be falling over in the first image!:lol:

I like the painting and understand why you added the figures!

If you're happy (and your wife) with the work, that's all that really matters!:)
