This was a March/April challenge from the Southwest/Western Art forum. Acrylic 9" x 14" on canvas board. C & C welcome, especially the critique.

One of these days I'll get a real camera. A lot of the color is lost in the photo.

Nice work. I do see some differences but I don't know if it was important for you to get an exact likeness. You might want to take a closer look at the nose and the eye on our right side.

Look again at the value of the whites of the eyes in the painting vs. the reference.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I appreciate the feedback.

I've only done a few portraits so it's a learning curve for me. I was trying to get a likeness and realize I came up a little short. I'm finding that to be very hard.

Understood about the whites in the eyes and have toned them down a touch.
