View Full Version : Should I buy this press?

I'm looking for some advice and second opinions about a press (see pictures) I would possibly buy. I know it's actually a litho press, but it seems like it can be adapted for printing copperplate etchings. And that's what I would use it for: printing copperplate etchings.

Price is 800 euro (840 dollars)
Size is 60x100 cm (24x40 inches)

Is this a good idea, or should I wait for a better opportunity?

800 would be over $1,000 ca for those Canadians weighing in on value.

It's a combo press -- litho and etching -- I pulled some text from the Conrad Press web site so yours may swap out differently but you will need a scraper bar or bars to do litho:

The upper roll assembly just slides out from the scraper bar housing and is replaced by a scraper bar. In less than five minutes, you are ready to print lithography!

I just called the owner... in less than 48hours, the press is mine!
Scraper bar and felts are included. Never did litho, but I'm definitely going to try it out someday.
Thanks for the info, Lovestofish. Much appreciated.

Great find. As I was looking at the press I thought, hmmm...that looks more like an etching press than a litho press with that big roller on there. How nifty to end up with BOTH at such a reasonable price!

Stone lithography is something I have never tried but really want to. My main focus has been copper plate intaglio and block prints. I have done some lithography on aluminum plates before and quite liked the way the prints looked but no longer have access to a litho press.
