Good work. Though it's a good idea to photograph paintings before putting them behind glass.

It's a good attempt Steve.
I think you've got caught up with the glamour of the eye rather than the form though!:) .. and I don't know if it's reflections in the glass or mis-interpreted shadow forms giving that angular block of dark?
Try to think of the form as you paint ... the eyeball in a socket, the spherical shape of that ball should continue behind the flesh - see how the eye here appears as a triangle?
Use the sphere to give the form to the lids - and particularly the lower lid - and use light and shade to form it ...... try to avoid drawing laughter lines as dark lines!

Good job for your first eye painting. For me human anatomy is one of the more difficult subjects to paint so you have my respect!
