View Full Version : Night Class

I painted this night view of a street scene just down the street from my house. I liked the view of this apartment setting as a nocturne, and I put the teen-age girl student in it to give a feeling of a teen-ager trudging off to attend a night class--hence the title, "Night Class".
"Night Class"...16" x 20" oil on canvas Best of Show, Peoria Celebration of Artists. SOLD

I really like this one. Did you paint a similar one or post this one before? I swear I've seen it before and stuck it in my brain file for paintings I like. Well deserved best of show!
I'm thinking maybe you posted it on your thread of working from progressively less blurry photos.

Great lighting. George
I agree on the lighting Bill: dramatic and your use of complements is wonderful. Kudos on the "best of show".

Beautiful work. The execution of a nocturnal is so difficult, against the grain of how we usually portray recession and light. Very nice job on this . Gary

Thanks for your comments, everybody! Yes, I posted this before, ....probably in the Oil Painting forum. The Peoria Art Council bought this painting, and it is now hanging in the lobby of a recreation center not far from my house.
