These are one inch square tiles, which you can make from papers, cardstock, chipboard, maybe even wood or textiles. Your choice.
The small inch squares can be decorated with collage, paints, inks, beeswax papers, and anything else you want to experiment with.
They are a good and quick way to try out a new technique or material for use in larger works.
They could be used as decorative borders when glued to a painting or drawing.
Some people trade inchies!
I haven't made any yet...so if you haven't tried them either, we will be newbies together!!
Here is a youtube video of making inchies.
I hope you give it a go and please post your results here for us all to see and get inspired!!

QUICK inchies done this morning.
Great way to use up those teeny offcuts.
The flower was a piece of purple tissue paper glued to card for background. The flower I got in an ATC swap, and I used a white gel pen to add the stem and word.
The birdcage was already stamped on a piece of card which I trimmed down to an inchie size and then used distress inks to colour the background.
You could add these to cards, or journal pages or tags, ATC.s etc.
I will definitely make more.

I'm painting on tiles all the time, except slightly bigger, but oddly enough I have some I" ones that my son got from a job, all I have to do is gesso the tops.
They were selling some small plain tiles on Etsy with holes in them that might be good for pendants. If I ever get two cents together I thought I might buy some to paint and sell.
Anyway this project sounds like fun.

Hi robin and Janet!
Inches as pendants would be a very good idea. Probably would sell online too!
Show us here, if you do them. :D

I have had such fun today. We have had bags of these 1" tiles lying around here for ages and much to my delight they are matte finish so I don't have to gesso and can keep the colors. Like to try a transfer and see what happens. This is my new way to doodle

Janet - fun tiles......recognized your style right off.
I approached it first by doing a whole 2 pages intending to just cut up but it would not have been good .......so then I began drawing them separate and it is really fun.
I want to do some studies of animals when doing these too. This has really be relaxing and fun.
