This is my first post to WetCanvas (although I have enjoyed the art and information here for awhile). This is Kallie. The piece (8x10) was done with acrylic and acrylic inks on Ampersand Clayboard. I hope this posts correctly. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/15-Dec-2014/1963907-Kallie72.jpg

I grew up with beagles, and little Kallie just stole my heart. Beautiful.

She turned out great, Linda! Wonderful work, thanks for sharing  The eyes are gorgeous and I love her little smile.

I had the pleasure of seeing this board in person while Linda was working on it. She lives about an hour away from me - she, Shirl and I got together for a scratchy day not too long ago.

Wow! That came out fabulously!! Not only does Linda do great scratching but she always has a fantastic background.

Love it--but you still better show up tomorrow....

This is sooo good! I was wondering, how do you keep acrylics from being gummy or hard to scratch through?

Thank you, Mathew and Rob. And Ann and Shirley, I'm looking forward to getting together again soon.
Ginger, I use acrylic inks as the under layer. They are thin and dry quickly. I took a couple photos of the work in progress, but then got side tracked and forgot to take more. Here are the two I took. In the first you can see I painted in large (mostly opaque) areas with the acrylic ink. In the second, I airbrushed in the background. What I didn't take photos of were the alternating layers of scratching and washes of thinned down acrylic paint. Sorry these images turned out so large.

What a beauty! Your technique with these is wonderful. I had seen some of your landscapes and flowers - it's great to see one with an animal too. Thanks for sharing. I like to see things here because it's easier to share the pictures larger and with more detail.

Thank you, Sean, Obedec, Harry, Sue, and Shalese. What wonderful comments. This was a Christmas gift for my son and his fiance. I really enjoyed their reactions.

What a fantastic portrait! I have a beagle, and I've seen this friendly expression many times. You did a beautiful job!

Beautiful work! Our last dog was a rabbit hound that we hunted with: a beagle, bluetick cross. Nice expressive pose!
