View Full Version : Turbines To Speed!!

Okay...if you don't recognize this one, you're far younger than I. It's a commission piece, and tons more involved than any of my recent pieces, though you'd never know it to look at it now. The difficulty? I've never photographed the darned thing. So, while this is informed by hundreds, even thousands, of photos available online (it is the most recognized car on earth, after all), it is actually "based" upon some studio photos my oldest friend (thank you Bob!) took of his plastic model. So, while the scale is spot on, giving it my personal photorealistic spin is gonna be an...interesting...endeavor.
Stick around, 'cause this could really blow up in my face.:wink2:
This is only a partial scan (there's a bit more to the left, though not a full car), as the ICE software couldn't stitch it together with the limited info on the board.:(

This is a little more informative at least...

I figured this project would touch a nerve or two! I know I'm having fun with it, although I also know I'll do another one when I eventually have an opportunity to photograph it myself!
Not feeling so great this morning, and I still have an 11 hour shift to work today, so I haven't made tremendous progress. Still any is a whole lot better than none, right?
You can see where I've corrected a line or two, but no worries...it'll be well camouflaged before I'm done (I hope!)!

Been out with bronchitis since Monday, and this is my first day back at the board. Ugly stage warning!
Back to work, and we'll see how long I can stand to listen to the Colts game while doing so.

More ugly, more Batmobile, more progress, more reflections...

This one's in the bin, folks. FUBARd it up completely today. Will try again soon. Sorry.

What went wrong ? It was progressing very well .

Too much to list, Venkat. Basically though, I just decided that I was VERY unhappy with the direction and the execution. I could probably publish it to very good reception, but I would never be happy with it, so I never will. The practice and familiarity I achieved with the subject matter will be priceless for the restart. I'm going to do a couple of small side projects the jump back into it ready to rock.

Wow, as soon as I saw the tail fin, my first thought was Batmobile! This is fantastic. Well why not, all your shiny stuff is great. :)
Well shucky darn, I didn't read all the posts before I posted and didn't know you binned it. On to the next one:thumbsup:

Awww, sorry the Batmobile took a wrong turn. It was fun to see though! Glad you'll try again some day.

It's OK... we'll still be watching more from you on a different bat day!

Sorry it turned out the way it has but you are right to abandon if not happy with it. You are also right about what you've learned.
