Hi Art Buddies.......and bringing in 2014 with a fun and easy close we have a DOODLE A CLASSIC thread .

I am gonna take this time to say how much your company on this journey is appreciated. Just the fact that we have been hanging out together here for what 6 years?? or more is amazing.

This year I actually set up a studio in our old house but had to stop going there cause there is no heat and it is cold weather now......I moved my stuff here but things have been so hectic lately I haven't been able to settle in. My goal was to go for one day a week and paint....I did for about 5 weeks and then stuff started happening......maybe next year I'll break the barrier. It is worth a try

What has been the notable in this year for you?

This year I've been trying to get to grips with art journalling and the use of mixed media in paintings.

I have used pen and acrylics in the past which is 2 items of mixed media but I wanted to explore the 'whole hog' as it were with collage, stencils, stamps, doodling, crayons and so on. I've only done journal pages and tags so far but
I think I'm ready to try my hand at a painting using lots of media in the one thing.

I like the paintings of John Piper...in which he often used various media.

My studio is a room in my flat (apartment) so not far to go when I get up in the morning!!

Doodling is good for small snatches of art when time and life doesn't let you do larger works. I see we have a doodle project this month!!

June - you succeeded in exploring admirably......Yep, a doodling project and I am realizing it is gonna take a little doing to get in the doodle zone....it is definitely different feeling.....

Have a good weekend one and all

My year hasn't been too good...a rent hike and various other nasties. I'm 82 years old (yes, really) and that doesn't help. My mind says I'm young but the bod is slowly going. :)

I am back doing art work in my studio, which is the corner of my dining room table. I work small so it's no problem. I like the flower and doodle projects and like you June I'm doing more tags. The tag project would be great for school children to make for Christmas presents.

So glad to be back with you again

Janet, congrats......I had no idea you were in your eighties:eek: - Amazing, and your art is young and fresh:thumbsup:

Yep, I'm watching you and June do the tags but I have enough in the way of new approaches.......I'm trying to find the time....... the time get frittered away so yesterday I decided to devote tues and wed mornings to painting.......see how that goes.

Brian, your odd cartoons are adorable.

Brian, love that space cartoon. I am a scifi film and TV addict theses days.

Janet, a marvellous age!! The ages I prefer are over 60 and under 12. Then you are free-est!!

I am continuing with making tags as I am 'locked into' a tag swap!! Its one tag a month and so far I've had great tags from USA swappers.

Next month the theme is 'magic'.

Are you all getting prepared for Christmas?

I may go shopping tomorrow...as I need to buy Toby a bed for his Xmas...and get some vegetarian supplies.

Bye for now.
