View Full Version : Wonderful Things In Everyday Life

I went for a ride on my bike and just allowed the bicycle to go wherever it wanted - sort of mindlessly cycled along the nice bicycle paths here in Bavaria. Some five or six kilometres along the way I came across this lovely spot. I sketched it and then returned a day later to paint it. It was a pretty chilly day but the sun was shining. This is done in Liquitex Heavy Bodied Acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas and is 30 cm x 42 cm. Thanks for looking.
The words on the little monument were - translated to best of my ability:-
REAL WISDOM LIES IN THE ABILITY TO BE AWARE OF THE WONDERFUL
THINGS TO BE SEEN IN EVERYDAY LIFE
What a lovely spot to happen upon! Very nicely painted. Love the sentiment of the monument!

Chammi this is wonderful. Is this a scene from last winter or early spring? The light looks cold and the trees are leafless. The greens are great and I love the hint of a village in the distance.
Now what is the quote in the original German? I need a classy phrase to impress my German friends. :D

Love it Chammi! The tree shadows would have made me 'bonkers'!
Do you know who penned the phrase? I like it also.
It's sort of similar to the first line in my 'signature.'

Thanks Cathy. I have no idea who penned the phrase. It was engraved on that stone in the photo. Must admit the shadows did drive me bonkers - getting the right tone. eek!!
