View Full Version : Girualt 25 Greens Set

Does anyone know which greens are included in the 25 greens set? I have looked on Girualt's site, Pasteletc, and all the major vendors. Does anyone have the list?

I have been watching the Elizabeth Mowry DVD and she uses the Girualt's, NuPastel and pencils for blending. I thought after getting her DVD and books I would want her Poetic Landscape set by Girault. But from what I see in the video is that she uses a variety of pastel brands. In fact, in the video and books she used Giraults very little. Mostly in the blending of the greens in her foliage. It's such a beautiful look. So, I thought perhaps the Girault 25 greens would be a better fit. I recently bought the 25 Grey set and really like the texture, especially for blending. To me, it's in between a NuPastel and say a Sennlier.

If anyone has the list, I would be very grateful if you could post it.

Thank you!

Pastel sets can be tricky because sometimes different stores have different sets. In checking the Dakota site and the Fine Art Store, neither has a 25 greens set on their website (at least as far as I could find). Fine Art Store sells a 50 greens sets, but with no identifying numbers. Dakota sells 25 and 50 piece landscape sets along with 3 specific Mowry sets - two with 50 pastels and one with 100. All the sets on the Dakota website come with picture and identifying numbers for each pastel.

Here's a link:

Hope this helps,

Hi Don,
Thanks for the link. I can see most of the numbers so that is helpful. I did a google search and read how out of date the Girault site appears. Unlike other vendors, they don't have lists of the sets except portrait, landscape and flower.

Maybe I will go ahead and order the Mowry set and play around with blending more than just greens.

Julie, have you been to this site? Everything Girault. I have ordered from them. Fast shipping, easy to work with.

Hi Cat,

They do have the 25 greens set on the site but no list. It's hard for me to make out the numbers in the photo. I have tried emailing them and calling them but no response so far. Makes me think twice about placing an order with them. They are the only ones I have found that carry the 25 greens. Most of the big art stores carry the 50 greens and more common sets.

Hopefully I will get a reply soon.

Thanks for responding!

HI All,

When I wanted to know which were in their sets I just emailed them and they sent me a list :)

The 25 Green set has:

177, 181, 183, 186, 187, 199, 200, 201, 204, 205, 206, 208, 227, 228, 231, 251, 252, 254, 261, 262, 263, 264, 275, 276, 279

I'm assuming this list is still current, but it was sent to me on 2/13/14.

pastelsetc finally sent me the greens list. I was thinking I could get Elizabeth Mowry's greens in that set but strangely only a couple were included.

Thank you Jessica for posting the list.

For a landscape assortment the Mowry 50 set A looked better than the regular Landscape set, it's got violet in it. Both A & B did. If I got any more Girault sets it'd be Mowry A or Mowry A & B but maybe not together.

Did the A or B Mowry set look better to you? I agree about only buying one of the two. I went through both of the two color set lists and it looks like there are a couple of values of each color in both sets except one of the greens.

I really like the texture of the Girualt's, they are unlike any other pastel. They are great for blending on top of the softer sticks too! I also like keeping them full size which I don't do with my other sticks. The one thing I did notice was they are delicate. I got a new Heilman box and took it to class with an assortment of pastels including my 25 Grey set. When I opened the box half of the Girualt's were broken! This isn't my first Heilman box but it is the first time I have broken a pastel in transport. Maybe I need to put them in a row by themselves since they are thinner. If I get the Mowry set I will just keep the sticks in the box they come in.

Okay, now you have me drooling. Truly drooling. I wanted the Mowry A & B set but those greens are so luscious and every one of them would be useful. Mmmmmm!
