View Full Version : Fuzzy Filly - FINISHED

This is a 5" x 5" board of a fuzzy little cutie. Not sure what I'll call it yet. It will be colored.
Hoping to get it done by the July 11 postmark date for the Draft Horse Classic art show.

Well begun, half done, Ann

Very nice Ann. Did you say your other one sold there last year?
06-24-2014, 04:10 AM
Thank you Venkat & Sue! Lots more left to scratch, but I may just make it in time. :crossfingers:
Sue, now that you mention it, I've never sold anything from the DHC art show. But the donkey did sell, at the end of last year, from our co-op gallery.

Looking forward to seeing this come together.

Super start! She's going to be such a sweet little filly.

This should really be cute

Thanks Nelvia, Harry, Jenna & TJ!
I got a little more done on it in Cary this weekend. Here's an update, along with a photo with the reference photos. I took the photos during one of our "late shift" scratch sessions in the hotel lobby.

A little farther along . . .
And here's an "action" photo that Jonathan took.

It's ultra sweeeeet!

Here's another update. There are some dark areas (forehead, around her eye, and lower jaw) where I've re-inked with a pen and I haven't gone back to tone it down yet.
I think I can actually get this done in time for the deadline . . . fingers crossed.
If anyone has ideas for a title, please throw 'em out there.

What a cutie

Better get with it girl!!
Way too cute to miss the deadline. Going to color?
Mine is (just) in the mail.

You're doing an amazing job Ann.

Gorgeous! Your textures are just beautiful.

Thanks, Ginger, Shirley, Jenny, Lynn & Jenna!
I'm going to get it done in time - as long as my entry is postmarked tomorrow, I'm good. And yes, Shirley, it'll be colored - pretty much just sepia tones, which I think will add a nice touch.
Two more updates. The top one here is getting closer, but the whole lower left section (chest/neck) still looks flat and I need to soften some of the areas I've re-inked. She also needs eyelashes! Then I'll do some overall blending of tones before I can color it.
I've decided to call it "Fuzzdorable". I liked your suggestion of "beginnings", Ginger, and wandered around in that direction, but couldn't come up with a title that clicked for me.

Two more updates - all scratched and first pass with color. The color needs some tidying up, but it's close to being finished so I'm going to put it away until morning. She still needs eyelashes and muzzle whiskers (I almost forgot about those, they're pretty faint in the photo).

I'm calling this done enough to submit.

I think it will be a great submission! Wonderful job!

Thanks Sue! I just got back from mailing my entry - made the postmark deadline - yay :)

The color made this unbelievably real! She is such a pretty little filly, and the textures and lighting are stunning. Fantastic work, Ann!

Soooo cute Ann. She turned out great and I enjoyed seeing the process develop.

The brown almost sepia look to this is wonderful. Beautiful job.
07-16-2014, 01:29 PM
Thank you, Netta, Lynn and Sande!
Yes, Sande, I was going for a sepia look - very limited palette. I mixed up a base brown for most if it and added a little yellow for the face and a little grey for the muzzle. I used a little bit of grey-blue for the mane.

Ok, I got to this late but wow, what a stunning little piece Ann. Lovely subtle colouring.
