My painting, Autumn Study (5x6) was accepted into the First Coast Pastel Society's Member Exhibit that just opened on Friday and I was absolutely thrilled to win a Merit Award. My first show! I think I'm in heaven!

Way to go Debbie! An award in any show is exciting but in your first show ... that's really something!

Congratulations, Debbie. I love the painting. Those darks in the trees are so gorgeous, it has wonderful depth and feeling. Great landscape! Cool textures too, especially in the sky and foreground.

Thanks Robert! It was fun to do...I used Blue Canson Mi-Tiente and lots of fixative....I think I brushed off the foreground two or three times and resprayed just because I did not like the color and ended up with all that texture. It is a technique I am now using pretty consistently on Canson. It sat for a few months until I added some lighter, warmer color at the horizon and then felt it was done. I guess the waiting really paid off!
