"La Vie En Rose"
( album C'est Si Bon sung by Louis Armstrong .)

Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose

When you kiss me, heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose

When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom

And when you speak, angels, sing from above
Everyday words seem
To turn into love songs

Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose

your painting immediately made me think of the Edith Piaf song
(those lyrics were printed in French)
it seems to have that look she so often had on her face

Excellent, conveys a lot of emotion, quietly. Great colors.

Agree with birdhs- This has something of that age, of Expressionism and of Edith Piaf, I think because the colorful fringe suggests something she might wear combined with the severe, sad yet 'not giving up' look she might have. As for the Louis Armstrong version of this song, I am not a fan, but am a fan of Satchmo. Anyway, really nice.

Love the way you've done the expression, and the blue shadow around her eye. Gorgeous colors throughout. Another winner, Hairy.

Mais oui, j'adore Edith. Avec une cigarette permanente dans sa bouche.
Oui, oui.

Simply stunning. Fragile yet bold, whimsical yet tragic. I love it.
