Use some tags and create art.

1. mixed media: use some stencils or collage

2. Paint a miniature

3. Do a doodle

The tags are small enough to create some little artworks quickly. Use them to send out with gifts.

We could exchange tags in this forum if there is any interest.

I hope you will find it interesting to try out some Tag art!!

This looks like fun and goes along with our Art Journal theme. I'm sure tags come in all sizes...but in case I have to cut my own, about what size would you recommend?

JANET, store-bought tags come in various sizes you are right. I have a medium one around 2.25 ins by 4 ins and a larger one, 2.5 by 5.5 ins.

But if you want to use them in art journals then you can make them any size to suit the pocket to house them. I made home-made tags to fit ATC cards for inserting in small pockets of my small 'Childhood' journal.

Its fun to add them to a journal like this. And you can also use them for attaching to gifts for themed occasions, e.g., Easter is coming up this month.

I think there are sites online for exchanging tag art works. They are a mini artwork in their own right, like ATCs, I think!!

All you need is a piece of card cut to the size you want and a hole punch. Hole reinforcers are a good idea as the punched hole will get a bit torn pulling it in and out of a journal pocket.

I have also seen tags made in various shapes, such as circles, triangles and so forth, but I haven't done any so far!

You could also make them to fold out etc. You could get quite adventurous I think.

I had a quick try at tag art this morning, using inks, stencils and stamps.

Came across problems I will have to get around in my next attempts. The ring reinforcers came off because I spritzed too much water...luckily I had a box of new sticky ones which I used when the tag dried.

It would be nice to do drawing or paintings on tags.

So here's a drawing. left it simple.

Not sure when i'll get back online:crying:

What do you do with all your tags once you have decorated them?

Some ideas:

1. give as gifts, or as a tag on a gift

2. use them to insert into pockets in art journals

3. stick them on your art journal pages as part of the book

4. make a special album just for tags

I came across this video on making a wallet for tags from a 12 by 12 ins piece of paper. Its a fun way to make a tag storage book album. The author uses it for photos but you can use it for storing your art tags instead.

I made one to try it out this morning...but I am being very tentative with what I do on my laptop...I haven't had the courage to add on the printer and install photo editing programmes yet...in case it crashes again!!
