Acrylic on 11x14 canvas board. Second one of the "experiment" and though I think it's better than the first i need to keep at it.

I didnt see the first one. I like the colors peering thru along the first half...and the bottom being a different color - reminds me of mud or a dark sea. I wish there were more changes in the patterns/shapes to make it more interesting...
i love experiments though and they always lead to something!

The first one, I saw the northern lights, this one, not so much. I like the texture, so thick and heavy with a lot of character, I feel like I am being pulled into the a dark ocean on the bottom.

Love the palette. I think I see knife strokes in there. Maybe the unidirectional sloping areas take the eye out of the painting, just saying.
Keep experimenting !!

Thanks for commenting. The intent is the northern lights as viewed from the ocean so at least that is coming through. I agree that the colors do appear to be similar in size and direction, which is odd because they don't get applied that way.......but hopefully the next one will fix that.
