View Full Version : "Smokin' Swallowtail"

I didn't get this to be quite as abstracted as I wanted, e.g. more like my recent 'Hummer'. Unfortunately, the photo doesn't bring out the intense yellow and oranges that are in the painting.

Trying to do a whole series of 'Wild Fliers'; dragonfly may be next.

Anyway, please let me know what you think. 16x20 oil on canvas. Thanks.

Susan, "Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams."
Well, there ain't no time to think of that. This butterfly is smokin'. It doesn't have time to think at all. Look at that blurred undercurrent of flight. This Swallowtail has a sure fired destination. It is really beautiful, fantastic movement and as for the title it goes without saying.

Thanks everyone for your gracious comments. I am pleased if it brightened your day. I certainly had fun doing this painting.

Nikki, I like your "ain't no time to think of that" comment. Maybe that would be a better title!

I love the way you conveyed the flight, and as others have noted, GREAT colors. Looking forward to seeing the series.

Thank you for the encouraging words, Jim and Katie, even if you can't agree on how to spell 'color'!

I like the movement of it, the trailing movement.
