Hi everybody!
I'm a belgian student and we have to do an anthology for school. My basic poem is "harmonie du soir" written by Charles Baudelaire. In this, he describe the evening and the sunset as a harmony made up of duality.
To complete our anthology we have to put an abstract painting and i really don't know anything of this way of painting. I would like to find a quite famous painting with curves (because the poem is repetitive) and two colors interspersed (because duality is two things inseparable) .
Of course if you have another idea, don't hesitate to propose me!
Thanks to them who read and who are going to help me :)

Make sure you stop by the Welcome Forum to receive your 'official' hello. It also has many valuable tips for beginners on how to navigate the site and our rules for use of the site.

if you are looking for is an abstract painting why not just do a Bing or Google search?
You will learn so much more by doing the search yourself.
that way you can see for yourself what strikes you as fitting the poem.

We cannot tell what is in the poem without reading it, and even then each person interprets poetry differently.

Let us know what you find, share it with us and explain why you chose it

You could always try painting what you've described. Read what you've written, you have already visualized a painting.

birdhs: i'm going to check it out! i did it for weeks but it's really difficult to find something which works with my poem! moreover our painting have to be famous and all i've found so far is painting from supermarket! :/
here's the poem:
Voici venir les temps où vibrant sur sa tige
Chaque fleur s'évapore ainsi qu'un encensoir ;
Les sons et les parfums tournent dans l'air du soir ;
Valse mélancolique et langoureux vertige !

Chaque fleur s'évapore ainsi qu'un encensoir ;
Le violon frémit comme un coeur qu'on afflige ;
Valse mélancolique et langoureux vertige !
Le ciel est triste et beau comme un grand reposoir.

Le violon frémit comme un coeur qu'on afflige,
Un coeur tendre, qui hait le néant vaste et noir !
Le ciel est triste et beau comme un grand reposoir ;

and in english
The season is at hand when swaying on its stem
Every flower exhales perfume like a censer;
Sounds and perfumes turn in the evening air;
Melancholy waltz and languid vertigo!
Every flower exhales perfume like a censer;
The violin quivers like a tormented heart;
Melancholy waltz and languid vertigo!
The sky is sad and beautiful like an immense altar.
The violin quivers like a tormented heart,
A tender heart, that hates the vast, black void!
The sky is sad and beautiful like an immense altar;
The sun has drowned in his blood which congeals...
A tender heart that hates the vast, black void
Gathers up every shred of the luminous past!
The sun has drowned in his blood which congeals...
Your memory in me glitters like a monstrance!

laf.art: Unfortunately, I can't otherwise i would already had done this. Maybe my problem is that: i want a precise painting, that's why i wanted other opinions.

Hello - I would love to take a try at making a painting from your assigned poem, but it would be as far from "famous" as you can get.

Maybe I will anyway, just for laughs.

Hope you get some real help, the only thing I can do for you is to keep this post near the top of the page.

Regards,
Trier
