12X12" paper on isolated plywood, acrylics, glass beads, gold flakes, scarab, butterfly, paper.
I really like this. Is the scarab the blue object just above the antennae?

I really like this too. It is intriguing. There are many things I like about it, I especially like the raspberry sparkling confetti bits and the faint shadows.
A journey through the clouds into the cosmos. Very Nice.

Thank you David, Nikki, Jon,
The scarab is the object above the butterfly. I make them myself and paint them as needed.

Your pieces are always so well conceived and put together and visually as well as intellectually intriguing. I am really enjoying this series.
What material do you use to make the scarabs?

thank you Jim.
The material is called Sculpt•It. Comes in a tub and it is an air dry material. I made molds from real scarabs and then cast my own from there. My favorite scarab was carved from a piece of meteorite found in Greece, sculpted in Poland and is now in my possession.

Lovely composition and a very pleasing overall effect. Is that a monarch? Funny, I just finished a painting of a swallowtail...coming soon.

I can't discern if it is a monarch or a viceroy butterfly. It is made of feathers.
I have found real butterflies are to delicate to be use for work that might be transported.
