Hi, you might want to post this on the Acrylics or Landscape forum- might get more replies on those..

Also,if you can get a closer photo or crop the wood edges off so the image is larger for viewers, we can see details better.

Hi Blue Canvas...not sure where you started, but welcome to the acrylics forum! :) I hope you don't mind...but I trimmed and straightened your painting...so others could see better. I love to play with photo programs...:)

Thank you very much Susan. I started painting three months ago and joined WC today, I believe I have a lot to learn.

oh that is much easier to see..
You have some good things happening...snow & trees are looking pretty nice..

Not sure about the green area in the R sky??
Mountains aren't bad, but there are too many triangle shapes, merge some of them to make a larger shape and vary the straight lines. Think interesting shapes.
Trees are OK, just that sharp squared area near the center low spot of trees, I would blend those into the distant trees, that abrupt corner shape doesn't fit..

The water color and shape needs some adjustment.
If it is still water it will reflect sky colors & the nearby trees.

The reddish/pink on the trees might be a bit too bright compared to the sky colors..or put more of those colors into the sky..

I bookmarked this link for ease of finding it- it is full of tips and examples -

Greatly appreciated Joy. The left lower corner, I tried to paint it as small body of water in ice and sunset light from left side. I guess it does not look like ice. The reason I added yellow green to the right sky was for color balance. I don't know if I did it right.

I forgot to add the shadows..because of where the sunlight is coming from- the lower right treeline should have some shadows in a soft purple/blue going away from the light direction, so approx a 45 degree angle down to the right.

Welcome to the forum Blue Canvas -
.......and thank you Susan for cropping and enlarging and Joy for the good advice you've given! :)

It's always better to show only the painting and as large as possible (WC allows 800pixels max dimension).

I've also merged your threads as posting rules allow one image thread per 24 hours - I often have to point that out, so you aren't alone in making two threads!

Also, just give the title of your work - people here will always comment if they want to - no need to ask! BUT, if you always would like C&C (comments and critique) just add that to your signature ... 'C&C welcome' for instance.

If you would like me to edit your title to give the names of the two paintings I can do that for you.:)

I hope you find the forum welcoming and informative - and if you check the Information Kiosk (link in my sig.) you'll find lots of useful stuff there!
We also run a monthly challenge - Different Strokes - where all are welcome ...... you'll find it near the top of the forum page.

Keep painting, share here, and have fun!:)
