 Hello guys...

I have been working on this new painting. I just want your opinion on the background color guys. Also at some point I will have to work on the vase color too. Should I keep the background as such or maybe I should paint a neutral color.
Acrylics on paper 11*14

Subi....personally, I like it!! You have depth and good lighting...might play with the vase a bit...but otherwise, I think it's good!

Some good work in this.
Consider though where your light is coming from - above? - and how it affects b/g and vase.

Thank you Susan and Maureen....:)

I have almost completed the painting... although I am still trying to find a way to make the vase look more shiny.. C&C welcome

That background does look nicer, but in some places the flowers & leaves look cut around...
I don't know if you would try to retouch those edges for a more natural look??

I really liked the first one, where the light highlighted the flowers...IMHO, you lost the beauty of the spontaneity. The 'roughness' of the flowers seemed to give them life and light. Maybe it's just the photo, and the light is still there?

The first looks like flowers in artificial light, the 2nd like natural light.
I think my preference is the second! I love the chunky b/g and the vase looks good - with the texture of the flowers and b/g I think it would be a mistake to make the vase very smooth and 'realistic'.:)

Thank you for your comments:wave:

Joy... I noticed the leaves a bit cut off in the ref pic. but it does look odd in my painting. so I have done my best to correct it..

Susan... I liked the first b/g too..it was colorful.:D . but the flowers looked out of space against it so had to change it.. and I think the photo is a bit darker..

Maureen... Thanks for the tip.. I kept the vase a bit rough itself.. I have been trying to paint a glass vase but I cant find any tutorial on it...

I completed the painting.. here is the final one .. the pic looks a little shaky I cannot get a good one with my mobile

Subi, I like this. You have some nice textures and colours and the 'chunkiness' appeals to me. Well done.
