View Full Version : WIP solar swarm

Hello. I've been on a bit of a hiatus for a couple of months, but am back to work. This is the painting i'm currently working on and hoping to finish tonight. when it's completed there will be a swarm of bees coming up through the center of the sun and one single large bee flying outward towards the viewer in center. I've never painted the sun and struggled a little bit, especially with the outlaying halo which i'm still not totally satisfied with. the painting is 36"x48". C&C much welcomed.

Neat. Reminds me of solar flares that I find interesting and also the reason I make my bank send me paper statements. Pam

Thanks! Here is all I managed to accomplish tonight.. I sort of started another piece and procrastinated substantially.. this is turning out to be a bit of a pain but i'm pushing through.

looks great... You have an amazing fb page.. if you don't mind me asking why bees are your primary subject?

Thank you all! It took a lot out of me physically and mentally.. i think because of the large scale and the repetitiveness of painting the swarm

Doctoring in arts: I'm sort of a person who fixates i guess.. heh. I have this sort of romantic view of bees, honey bees in particular and the perfection of the swarm/hive's social and industrial structure, and their general symbiosis with almost everything in nature. I think I just sort of found my place with them in terms of my place in the art community in general and thought it was important to draw any bit of attention I can to the issues surrounding the dwindling populations among pollinators. Thanks for the compliment on the fb page too! I checked out your work as well and it is very beautiful! Your drawings are incredible!
