I don't do portraits, but this Forum inspired me to try one with a sorta "Fauve/abstract"approach, for want of a better term. Fun, anyway.

Great choice of arbitrary colors, bold and well executed.

Bold and Fauvist. You are going in an interesting direction here.

Jocko - Thanks. Things are really cool down here recently in more ways than one, as you know. Three days of snow and ice on the ground here in Feliciana.

Hairy Wolf - Thank you; value your comments.

Susan - Thank you very much.

This is very nice. My only comment is that the color of the mouth might be a little too intense. It draws my eye and keeps it there. Otherwise it's beautiful.

abstracta - Thanks, much appreciated.

Ellen -Thanks. I thought I could lessen the impact of the red lips by putting the red in the other spots; sort of make it blend in, because there was a slightly vampire look otherwise.

Anyway, I scumbled some gray over the lips today and it looks better.

I thought of Mardi Gras or Carnival of Venice when i saw her.
Vague memory of a painted face with colorful streaks of make-up came to mind..
or perhaps a painted mask to hide one's true feelings..
or hide your identity.

Scumbling grey should work. The other red areas around the painting look softer to me. Whatever you did to them should work on the mouth. I'l like to see the update. I think it's almost perfect. I really like it.

Thank you Ellen - per your request, I finally got a photo of the grayed down lipstick;photograph does not show it as greyed down as it really is.
