In the meadow Soul doth fly
Down a flowery flowing bed
To lonely Red Manís loneliness
Where his tears fill his head.
She puts a frog upon his hat.
And wishes him the skies
For only a frog could know a frog
With such sorrow deep inside.

Thank you so much Birdhs and Phil. This is what happens when you reach down to the bottom of your soul and you become a child again with no malice - for children know none. Ribbit - I think I have a frog in my throat. Ribbit, ribbit.

Hey Nikki, I find your paintings fascinating especially when you reveal the source of inspiration. The result is so unexpected and non-literally interpreted. This makes them truly original. I need to ask, what made you leave the frog out of the painting?

I am slightly confused by your question. The frog is in Soul's hand.

If you meant the frog in my throat - well then that is because at the bottom of one's soul there is a lot of love. I have answered both just in case.

mmm...pink frog, way abstract, as is some of the poetry (specially greggos).
Love it, seriously good... I mean ribbit.

It takes a special talent to let go of all our formal inhibitions and paint like a child and you, Nikki have that special ability.

Love the poetry too2totwoo

Full of whimsy and pathos. Nicely done, Nikki. (It took me awhile to find the frog, too, but that's OK). Poem also very enjoyable.

Hey Nikki, Now I see it. Didn't expect a pink frog. Once again, so unexpected. Looking forward to seeing more.

I will work on that frog a little more when it is dry and thank you everyone for all the lovely comments you have written.

I see a Katchina doll and a little child in a beautiful meadow. I love this painting!

It's funny that you should have mentioned Katchina dolls which I had never heard of before. Thank you for that - they are great.

I was walking around my house with a frog in mind and started reading "The Earth is Precious" by Chief Seattle which my mother had framed and found a line in there, "And what is there to life if a man cannot hear the lonely cry of the whippoorwill or the arguments of the frogs around the pond at night? I am a red man and do not understand."

The painting kind of got loosely interpreted around that.
