There are still a few places left for those of you who want to give your painting skills a boost (or even get started on your painting skills!)

Workshop Location and Dates:
Location: Tuscany, Italy: Licciana Nardi, Barry's studio
Dates: September 09-13, 2014 Workshop for beginners and simultaneous portrait track for more advanced artists.

A five-day painting workshop at the studio of Barry John Raybould in the heart of the Tuscany countryside, Italy. The studio is located in a spectacular location overlooking the Appenine mountains to the east, the Alpi Apuani mountains to the south (from where Michaelangelo got his marble), and the Magra Valley to the west. We are also close to one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the whole of Italy, known as the Cinque Terre region.

I will be running two tracks in the workshop. One for beginners, and the other for more advanced students.

BEGINNER WORKSHOP
Each morning we will cover one of the key basic skills you need to build your foundation for painting, including notan, space division, values, color, and the key elements of Visual Music and Poetry. We will start off with a short lecture. Then for the rest of the morning we will do assignments to practice that specific skill. Each day we will build upon the skills learned the previous days. The emphasis will be on doing studies (not finished paintings), since this is the best way to learn. Afternoons are free time for you to practices the skills you learned in the mornings. You may also attend the advanced workshop evening critiques.

ADVANCED WORKSHOP
The focus of this advanced workshop will be on developing your more advanced skills. I will be covering portraiture this year and will be tailored to your own level. Again the teaching will be in the morning. Afternoons are free time for you to practices the skills you learned in the mornings, or to just paint along with me and see my working practices.
