Most of my Animal & Wildlife paintings for 2013 were painted for the Animal & Wildlife Monthly Challenges, so I had plenty to choose from.

I decided on this duck painting as it was my first Acrylic painting which I was happy with; it was from the April 2013 Animal & Wildlife Challenge

20cm x 25cm - Atelier Interactive Acrylics on watercolor paper

I'm not sure this is my best work, but its my favorite since its the first portrait I have ever done of one of my own animals. This is my Quarter horse, Tulsa. Size is about 24" x 26", painted in various soft pastels.

this is my scratchboard owl that I entered in the Wisconsin Regional Art Program and it ended up winning a wildlife art award at the state show this past fall. It was selected as one of the top four pieces in the first show by that judge. He was a professional artist. I was so honored as I am completely self taught. Anyway I am very proud of this piece. It is 11 x 14 and inked with Inktense pencil (the beak) and Graphitint pencil (the feathers and wood).

I so enjoyed painting this work. It was my last assignment for my diploma
and resulted in a distinction which thrilled me to bits and was such a surprise.

This was a real challenge in terms of the fur(all those little spots of different sizes) and the environment with the rocks and mountains.

It is my favourite work of 2013.

Not sure if this is my best, but it is one of my favorites, in part because I actually made the leaves believable! I have a hard time detailing foliage. Pastel.

2013 was probably my busiest year so it's hard for me to choose but probably this one of my partner and our two dogs. At least it's the best one of mine that's completely my own as i took the reference photos for it, too.

This one titled DRIVING PAIR was done on Ampersand Scratchboard and colored with Ampersand ink . Size 12 x 9 "
It is difficult to work with colour on a black board after scratching because it requires repeated layering with colours followed by scratching , to get closer to true colours . This one. I consider as my somewhat better looking colored Scratch work .

Viv I did 4 painting in 13 this one was by far the most difficult and time consuming. I learned a lot painting this. The most important was Trust. Trust in what I know and it will come together.

18x24 inks on Archers Hot press. Reference from Bill Ham

I've chosen this painting simply because it's of my two Labradors,Kenko and Tetley, enjoying themselves in a friends swimming pool.I painted more challenging subjects last year, but I like this because it represents everything that is Summer, and the close relationship between Kenko and Tetley.
24" x 18" acrylic on watercolour paper.

It is hard to pick just one, but I decided on this one. It had the most detail and took me longer than any of the others.

Graphite pencils on sketch paper.

This is my favorite. I loved the colors in it and the gravel was a lot of fun to do and who doesn't love baby moose!
