View Full Version : WDE Jan 18: Beach Bits!

From the screen, under 1 hour in total, w/colour pencils on white drawing paper, approx 10x8". - difficult to get a decent scan.
The drawings are not meant as a composition - just little exercises after digging out the w/c pencils:) and trying not to overwork anything.
Christine, the refs deserved better but it's another dark day here and finding motivation is hard - the paintings are piling up to be done!:( - easier to 'draw' than to paint, hence the choice today:)
Thanks for looking:)

It may be a dark day for you Maureen, but to look at these one can only see bright and cheerful. The conch is very pretty, but the beach scene touches one's  as it shows the concern of the mom (or older person) for the younger one - all in one little sketch! Also love the title. I thought I was going to see revealing bikinis:evil:

Super watercolor pencil sketches Maureen! Definitely a change of mood once you started adding lively color on both. I agree, the beach scene is a lovely emotional moment.

And here I thought you'd taken on the collage turtle!
Really love the conch shell. Great colors.

I enjoy your drawings as well and they aren't a bit dark. I know what you mean about scans. Just can't get quite what you see.

these are lovely. You really caught the woman urging her daughter to come on in, the waters fine!

I agree with Kate, you have captured the light in both your beautiful drawings, especially the shell and shared it with all of us. I hope things brighten up for you today.

I like the strength of the foreword leg of the mom trying to pull her daughter into the water. Good job on cp not easy to use with water.
lovely softness in these drawings!!!
