These are gouache in sketchbook 170 x235mm I thought I should do the challenge seeing as I set it. It is not my usual practice but I quite liked doing them especially the pilot.
Pilot sketch took 3 minutes and painting 30 minutes

Snorkeler sketch 7 minutes and painting 50 minutes
Thanks for looking
All C and C welcome

I never put the MI so I hope somebody looks.
I just got a set of inktense blocks and thought I would try them out with the parrot fish. I like the colour intensity but not sure I like how they apply. I started applying the dry crayon to the paper and adding water and did not like the outcome. I then started taking colour off the block with a wet brush and applying it that way. I have done about 4 layers and it is still very patchy. It might just need a bit more practice or I am using them wrong. Anyway this took and hour and 5 minutes and the drawing was 8 minutes in sketchbook measuring 170 x 235mm

Thanks for looking

Love your sketches  - and the paintings  - the inktense doesn't have the impact of your gouaches but I'm sure you'll soon master them :)

... inktenses are one of my faves. The pilots my fave sketch, well done on both :)

The first 2 are amazingly fast and good! The parrotfish looks great too - I don't know anything about inktense blocks so I am curious as to what people will tell you.

love the gauche paintings and thanks for showing the progress. the parrot fish is coming along, I end up using a wet brush on my inktense blocks and get a better result painting from them, I guess I need more practice too

Great job on all... even the pencil sketches had me in awe..

Love your pilot sketch and painting. Nice to see how you disregarded or corrected some of your lines for the final painting. Kids and mom in the water are great and the fish looks good to me. Never saw a real fish all the same color from left to right. They vary with the light so it looks just right to me :) Thanks, for hosting with some great images, Christine. When I connect my printer to my new pc, I'll be better able to participate.
