Hi Maureen,
Great images I have two more I would love to try.
Also thanks to Bonnie for prompting me to try out some smooth Arches A4 I have not used.Horrible stuff.
The first image is Holbein watercolour pans on smooth Archers roughly two hours and a lot of angst.

An hour later and several layers of neglected gouache paints.

The rooster is took an hour and a half Holbein WC pans on Arches A4 300ms rough(lovely Stuff)

Minerva is a beauty - despite you not liking the smooth stuff! You've done a lovely job with her:)
I like the rooster too - head tail and body - super - and he's so colourful.:)

Maybe use that smooth paper up with pen drawings? Should be good for that!

Hey Mary:wave: love the colours and fusions ,even the cauliflower under his left eye:) it's coming along nicely:clap: the cockerel is looking good also:clap:

It's so difficult to try different papers, you have to persevere to see what you can and cannot do.

Mary you did a great job with Minerva....a lovely glow result even though you dislike the hot pressed paper(me too)! Love the perky rooster and diffusion of colors in the background.

Great feathers and wonderful fur, but the thing I love most are the cat's eyes

Good job on both of them. I love trying new things. They do not always turn out the way I would like, but love to try em.

Very good job on both paintings.... I like the cat best but that is only because I'm a Cat Lover!!! And her Calico fur is so different!!!

I think the cat is tops, the paper must have been teasing you before, and the roosters a bright cheery chappie :)

Both are very good - love the bright saturated color you got! That cat is ready to be blown up to poster size and hung on the wall!
