View Full Version : WDE 1-4 Susan and maybe another one

I started this one this morning, and wasn't sure if I'd get back to it, as my kids are all here this weekend, and I had to do "gramma duty in the kitchen" those kids just love breakfast!
I did this in Artrage oils (digital) all painted. I didn't get the likeness and the expression the way I wanted to. but it has some nice painterly qualities. I'm trying hard to pay closer attention to details in my portraits so I get a likeness, but so far  NOT WORKING!

I think you've done very well indeed Elaine ... it's a good portrait and I can tell it's Sue!
Good work on the form of the face.

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/04-Jan-2014/42008-snowy_road.jpg Thanks Connie and Maureen.
I considered doing this in real watercolor, but I'm realizing that I can do some "thinking thru" in digital and then go to watercolor later, so maybe sometime during the week I'll attempt this on watercolor.
This is another artrage attempt- with the watercolors this time. I needed several layers to let the colors blend where I wanted to, and not to, where I didn't want. I might have overdone it with the Harsh Chaos. NO you can't over-do Harsh Chaos! It is a blender that seems to splash water onto your "paper" and gives you all textural blends. So much fun!

The portrait though just not quite on, you can tell it is her. I think it is in the mouth, but since I am not expert, I may be wrong. Love the colors of them both. I can not do the digi stuff.

So that's how you paint the snow scene in digital watercolours! Very nice, and it has the look of real watercolour. The colours and the blending are super.

you got the "selfie" pose, i love the skintones and HAIR! the scarf is great, the glasses cutting across the vision... but the cold cold cold of that landscape... o it makes me yearn for that distant orange orange orange color!!! ... ok, with kidz clamoring for breakfast??? this is FAB, girlie!!
