View Full Version : WDE 13 Dec 13 Juicy and the 'phant

So I loved so many, but some would have taken a while to do and with being out Saturday at the opening of our new gallery in town, and other limitations I didn't want to commit to a long job so I've saved a couple for the new year when we have long winter days and Christmas is gone and it's all quiet. It will help keep me busy.

(Trying to type this with the cat pressed against my arm. We are having a battle as he wants to lie on my laptop and I won't let him)

This is quick on I did on Friday night. I had trouble with the photographs because it was in a pad and kept going wonky. This is the best I can get without chopping the tree out altogether,.

'Asian Elephant Sketch'
Done in my A3 Two Rivers Studio Pad, grey/blue
Charcoal, Derwent Tinted Charcoal pencils &
Derwent XL tinted charcoal and graphite

Yesterday I finished this, having done the underpainting on Saturday.

Oil Pastels over Inktense
A4 cotton coated MDF
Prepped with Gesso and sand.
(background is lighter and bluer in the photo than in reality)

Thanks for hosting and all the stunning refs.

The fuzzy skins and those beautiful rich colours make those gorgeous juicy peaches my favourite for sure although the elephant and his poor old wrinkly skin is excellent as well.

Saggy baggy elephant is great. The peaches are terrific. Excellent job with the oil pastels and wonderful color.

Those peaches are sterling. I love the hues and contrasts. Very strong, indeed.

Lin, nice Elephant, but love those peaches - wouldn't have thought of using inktense pencils with oil pastels over - these just glow so beautifully!
