View Full Version : WDE 29 Nov 13 Camaroan Outriggers - FINALLY got it photographed

I actually finished this last Sunday night all but a couple of strokes on the outrigger and the figure. But Dave was off to bed, so I had to go too as I cannot get out of my chair without help - so it was down tools. (The chair I spend most of my life in has broken and needs to be supported with the leg support up, so I can't get out without the pooufe and toolbox being moved and the rest held in while I stand up)

So I finished it completely on Monday. But, been out and about here and there as I finally got back into the studio (radio studio) to record our Christmas night special. So with that, errands and shopping we didn't get round to phtotographing it until Thursday, so yesterday, went to upload them and the photos were all blurred. Dave took them again this morning with another camera, and although ok, the paper had 'bellied out' on the board so the left edge was skewed. I gave up and said sod it and cropped it anyway! It is a week late now....so here it finally is......

Thank you for hosting Joel.

'Camaroan Outriggers'
A4 wc paper
Watercoloure & Inktense pencil

with drying times and all the coming and going I didn't get to add up total time, but here it is at 2hr stage.

I drew it out, then laid in shadows and undercurrent colours with Inktense pencils dry. I then washed them with a wet brush. I used Inktense as it doesn't move or lift when dry. Thus I wouldnt' have to wait too long before I could paint over it and save some drying time.

At the end I rolled sharpened Inktense pencil damp over the sea and rocks to give some texture.

Hi Lin! You're such an inspiration. This is a wonderful watercolor painting that beautifully captured the idyllic beach scene in Caramoan. The foreground foliage casting shadows on the white beach looks awesome. The rock formation on the viewer's right really rocks! And of course, the beach and the blue waters with the outrigger boat are all well painted. In my books this is a masterpiece. Thank you!
