I guess the holidays are here Hanukkah, Thanksgiving and all the other festive days around the world. I think we will all be busy this month so we will put a project up....maybe a holiday one. Any suggestions?

Good Cheer...

Me, I am planning on NOT being busy - I am going to more or less skip the whole Christmas thing and just have a relaxing holiday at home, with a stack of books and drawing materials.

So by all means put up some projects. :-)

Perhaps time for a new photo paint-along as well?

Any one want to join in on a postcard exchange project?

Not keen on postcard exchange. I often feel pressured if I have to produce something for someone.

We don't do Christmas much either but this holiday, I think we are traveling 10 hours away to visit my mother in law so won't be drawing much then.

But I did get a book on zentangle and some tiles to draw on so I'm looking forward to doing more of that.

I took a class on painting on tiles with acrylics a long time ago and now I sell them. I seal with 4 coats of polyurethane and they are holding up well...just don't drop them. We did a transfer project a while back and I tried that on tiles and would like to try some more of those. Let us know Sandra about the drawing on tiles.

Following Brian's suggestion I threw up some pictures for paint along in case anyone is interested. I'm not too inspired so maybe you all can add to the pics.

I am beginning to find The holidays frightening. Instead of sugarplums, I'm dreaming of people going to battle on Black Fridays (which seems to last for days) and $s or, more likely credit cards, floating through cyberspace. Wasn't there some purpose to Christmas once? Yes, I'm all for a quiet time.

Janet, the tiles I mentioned are Strathmore Bristol Vellum 4x4 inch squares pre cut so I didn't have to cut them. They sell them with the name tiles. It would be too space consuming to have a real tile.

Thanks for paint along photos.

This is the first time I really understood biblically how important Christmas is for our soul and eternal life. It's time to listen to a lot of hymns, rather than chestnut roasting over fire and reindeer songs.

I will go add some if I have something available. Actually, lemme go do a still life setup and take a photo of it. :-)

Incidentally, in the Café Guerbois section someone came up with a great idea for art projects, namely portraits of famous people. We should consider starting such a series here: choose some famous (or even more fun, some infamous) person, post some references and then we all make a portrait drawing.

Well, as I said, I am absolutely boycotting Christmas this year. And New Year's eve for that matter. I'll let you all know how it went on the first of January 2014. :-)

Hi All,
Good to read the posts and touch base with everyone.

Not much in the way of art going on here. I have a sketch up and some linoleum glued and pressing for Christmas cards. Here are a couple of sketches I did in a figure drawing group.

Oh, and Brian here is the really odd cloud formation I mentioned in November. I wonder if a space ship could have made this?

Sandra, I love you art. Thanks for posting it for us.

We (just me and my husband) are putting a new tin roof on our old house in town. We are just about too old for this sort of thing. This will probably the last time we need to do it. It is gonna take us a while. Maybe I'll take photo or two.

Janet your Hannuaka cards are beautiful. The one using old art is fun….good idea. I have a lot of old art I need to do something with.

Jacqui and Sandra, hope you get to feeling better, and better:heart: http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/03-Dec-2013/88676-carlie3.gif http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/03-Dec-2013/88676-nate10.gif http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/03-Dec-2013/88676-spaceshipentry.gif

It could have, though it is more likely to have just been an aircraft. :-)

Very cool photo. I don't think I have ever seen this phenomenon myself.

humm, cloud appreciation webpage…..I listened to some of the tunes too.

It was interesting they had a photo of the same cloud formation as we say.
cool. And they said it was probably most likely caused by an air craft…..

I got some art done but haven't gotten to scan it in yet. Working on Christmas cards too. Maybe I can post them tomorrow. Retirement is so busy

Today we worked some more on putting tin on our old house. This will be the last time we do work like this. Getting old.

Oh, and Sandra I've been using the Zebra nib ever since you shared about it.
Have you tried the Noodler's flex nib fountain pens. They are inexpensive and I love mine. The line variation is wonderful for a fountain pen.

Robin, I haven't used a Noodler flex nib fountain pen before. But I do use the Chinese Hero flex nib fountain pen. Do you like the Zebra G nip?

Finally after a week of bible study, I got to do some sketching.

Happy Holidays everyone. I've been so busy with all kids at home. Heading down to Southern California this weekend and will be back next weekend. In the meantime, some doodles.

And I've finally updated my blog about my recent life here (http://sandralp.wordpress.com/2013/12/26/praise-the-lord/) and here (http://sandralp.wordpress.com/2013/12/26/speaking-in-tongue/)!

These four are in Stillman And Birn Zeta sketchbook hardbound with my various fountain pens. The colored one is Neocolor 2.
