Sketching where or what I see... visiting my sister in Kennesaw, Georgia, we chased butterflies with our camera. She took this one... so I drew it.

At last I am getting back to some sketching. I had a huge block for awhile.

Just one of the many stone crosses on Dartmoor, in Devon, UK.

Nice marks in that last one. Do you know Van Goghs drawings with their lovely range of marks?

Another landmark seen throughout Spain, abandoned windmills, in pen and ink.

Nice sketches!!! Good to see you out and about with your pen. Funny that you were visiting Kennesaw. My brother and his family live there.

My sister has been there for yonks....We were there in Sept. This sketch is of a very organic shaped fountain in Pego, Spain. I would imagine it is very much influenced by Gaudi.

Great sketches. The ruins are fascinating.

I love doing ruins.
Great pen drawings!
Ruins are great, so much more interesting than intact buildings

Thank you flug I hope this barn is kept from becoming a ruin as it is a much loved landmark in Greene, New York.
12-20-2013, 01:46 PM
According to your drawing, the barn looks pretty sturdy. Does it have historical landmark status? That would keep it repaired and standing.
12-20-2013, 05:53 PM
That I cannot tell you. It always has been well kept but I have not seen it lately.
12-22-2013, 09:13 PM
Love the way you did the fountain! What an interesting looking barn. Nice!!!

We used to live in Chilworth, Surrey. This sketch is based on my own photographs taken at the time of the gunpowder mill ruins there.

Walking in Spain commonly includes the ruined casitas along the way at the very least. This one on the campo near our village had a lovely window. I don't know why the rock is on the window ledge.
03-07-2014, 02:01 PM
Intriguing rock on the window. Marvelous sketch.
08-01-2014, 05:26 PM
just a watercolour sketch of peppers. Great subjects.
08-02-2014, 04:23 AM
I like the patterns of the trees in the ruin and the trees growing inside it.
08-02-2014, 06:36 AM
...lovely pieces, bet someone put that rock in the window just to make ya say.....wonder why there's a rock on the window ledge, super peppers too ;)
