Hello guys! l was so impressed by underpaintings made by Michelangelo ,that l decided to try this new medium for me ,that is egg tempera.
l made a drawing ,that was inspired by Rafael's Madonna ,not very accurate ,because l am interested in how this medium behaves under the brush.
First ,l made an emulsion of egg yolk and water ,equal parts ,and mixed the well .
The second emulsion l made ,using linseed oil ,almost one part ,one part egg yolk ,and mixed them well .after that , l,ve putted some water ,equal quantity with the egg yolk and oil together .
l will post the first stage of the experiment l made with egg tempera.
l used a dirty green (verdaccio ) for the flesh areas ,as Michelangelo did ,and some pale ocher for the rest of the details ,like hair ,veil ,and the drapery ,or clothing .
after this was dried ,a used the same maethod(almost ) like in painting the icons ,using some vermillion and ocher +a little titanium white ,for the light parts .after that ,i used a more lighter version of the same mixture ,now decreasing the working area.
l've repeated the process ,increasing the lightness of the flesh tone ,until l used almost pure white.
you cannot blend ,l will wait until tomorrow ,and try to give it a glaze over ,
