View Full Version : After Richard Schmid

The original of this is a pastel painting in Richard Schmid's awesome book Alla Prima. I fancied a change from animals and loved the exuberant colours in the original and let's face it, this is as close as I'm going to get to having a Richard Schmid painting in my house

Wow! Well Done! Will be taking my pastels to figure class this week and Richard Schmidt via your painting just opens up the possibilities! Thanks for sharing! Perhaps I need to look for his book.

Not into nudes and didn't notice the bum icon but nicely done.

don't know the original pix .
saturation/contrast on the figure is very strong and unexpected from schmid ,
but , the articulation of the hair grabs my eye right away
and then looking down along the body .
kudos to the model who held that pose ! :D
i've made a few ' after ... ' paintings ,
and my guests always seem to be drawn to them
compared to my work ...
good to see this :)

Thanks guys - Ed, it is more muted in real life and Mr Schmid's version even more so but I can't get a photo of it that doesn't make it appear more saturated on my screen for some reason...
