I did this from a photo..I'm thinking darker foliage? Might set the house off more, it's actually my house from my backyard.
I learned a lot about values painting this one.

Nice so far, John. I think you can take your values even darker, you can exaggerate what you actually see for effect. And yes a bit more colour in the foliage would go well.

More color in the foliage for sure and darker shadows will define the house better. Nice job so far.

Thanks it's in the WIP stage and knowing watercolor the darks will make the house pop. The shadows took the longest to paint.

I had to walk away, it's hard for me to know when to stop.I got the values as dark as I could and that seems to set the house off more. Just a simple study on how light might be portrayed. I'm going to get busy painting value studies so I don't waste time on the parts that are hard for me. I ended up deciding to add some lost forms on the dark pieces, I think it helped unify the painting.

An interesting view of your home.... I like the darker values you used with the light on the house. An interesting picture.
