Just a little more progress. Please forgive the horizontal streaking and any blooming or "ghosting" obvious in this image. I'm ready to pitch my ancient scanner. A little more value range is required in the subjects left sleeve. The forest floor will show more highlighted and detailed leaves. I may have a little too much green in the shadowed right wrist.
Raffaele...it you happen to catch this, I was wondering what you meant by laying in the glazed colour on the horizontal?

Thanks TeAnne...
FioreQ...Believe it or not, I'm using the Genesis Heat-Set Oils for this painting. Some have said these paints are really "themoplastics". This is my first attempt at doing an underpainting of which I will glaze in the colour when I'm finished. I became intrigued to at least attempt an underpainting after becoming excited about Verdaccio and Raffaele's teachings on the Grasaille(sp?) and verdaccio over in the "oil painting" forum. You get a chance check out what they have to say over there.

This is looking good David!!!!! Hey! I was in your area not too long ago. (Annapolis) We ate at a place called "Mike's" for seafood. I ended up in the emergency room with an allergic reaction to soft shell crab! *laugh* what a way to start the vacation.
I can't wait to see the glazed version on this painting...you have a great underpainting going here.

Bravo! Great begining! I read the whole thing about "grisaille" on the oil painting forum. I was hoping to catch the next step. Well please show us how it turns out.
:D It can only be great, you have been quite consistant in your other paintings.
See you soon I hope.

Hi Fagan...
So sorry to hear about your seafood experience. I hope the rest of your vacation went better. Annapolis is a very nice area in my opinion. I hope I finish this thing before leaving for Utah next month. We'll see...

Hello Ladysue...
Thanks. There is a wealth of info going on over there...don't you think? A few individuals in that forum have been so instrumental in helping me to understand the underpainting approach. I really enjoy this technique. I'll post again as more is completed.
