This is 12x8" on fisher 400. From a photo of my friend's partner, the Cap'n, preparing to climb the mast (rather him than me!!!) Hope you like it :)

Now that is a manly man, nice job Ruthie! It's a great pose and well done even to the high lighted hairs on his arm.

Thank you so much everyone! Ed and Nell, Unfortunately he does not like his photo taken and usually pulls a funny face, making most photos of him unuseable as refs. I have a few so I'll look through.
This is actually part of a series I'm doing on people at work. This is the third but I'm running out of refs! Thought I could get a load when in Crete last week but all the people seemed to be resting or playing.........

I LOVE the light on his face and the warmth of the pinks throughout the painting. Simply stunning!

Thank you all! It's so encouraging to get this wonderful response. This one's going to be put aside for a competition next year.

Ruthie, you sure did a fabulous job on his portrait. I have to admit the foreshortening around the hand and the shapes of his fingers must have given you a challenge. Is this a commission?

Next time you have to climb the mast... Barb

Thank you Dorothea! Actually I confess I made him look a wee bit older than he is. But then, I see him as a salty sea dog you see!
