This fast 12x16 pastel is of a scene done before in oils 'Farm 101' (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1308390)- it is actually on Hwy 1 in the Central Coast of California in Ron's territory. I'm creating a large pastel commission and wanted to gain some experience with this paper- Rives BFK and work in a grayed palette. It is high-quality rag paper, holds it's tooth under hard use, and comes in a large sheet. It feels as if my awareness of value is getting more sensitive as I go- all good!

Very nice, Ken. Love that sky and the light it throws on the distant hills.

I love this. Particularly the light side of the buildings. Great sense of distance

Lovely work - the buildings and the tree on the right are particularly well done!

Nice scale on this one Ken. I particularly like the "largeness" of the mountain against the buildings. Your sense of light is great too!

Very nice. Has a real quiet, peaceful feeling about it. I like the muted palette.
Ken: I love the aspect of "Line" in this. In the world of the painterly, it is nice to see a wee bit of the linear.:)
A very beautiful and subtle work.
