Following my first SMASH journal (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1284452), I got an idea to alter a couple of half-used composition notebooks I didn't like anymore.

Mom found an old magazine which I filled out the form to find a pen pal-- never mailed it, didn't even tear it out of the magazine. My childhood address. Ooo, I liked painting even back then.

Lots more pages in the notebook. My art comes in spurts, mostly when I find a window of time which coincides with a spike of creativity. Thanks for looking.

I like these!!! You've apparently saved a few things. lol So did your mother. How great that she had that form.

Julie, I really enjoy this type of art + scrapbook + journal. Thanks for sharing your pages to inspire us. I have several sketchbooks that are unfinished, usually because I did not love the paper or perhaps the size. This is the perfect reuse- altering them into my arty ongoing scrapbooks without buying a new "real" scrapbook or binder or journal. Duh! I shoulda thought of this, but thank you for doing it!!

I finished all my work at work and felt like drawing stuff on my desk, I felt so rusty. It triggered a creative flood...couldn't wait to get home.

Bravo!!!! This is so awesome, I love it! I want to kick myself when I think of all of the great paper and ephemera I've discarded over the years that I could have tried to put together into something this creative

Love your latest December postings. You have a real knack for collaging things that are both cool and also in proportion to the page & theme. Keep posting! Wanna see more!

Okay :) Closing out the year by finishing out "sketchbook" #17. I'd hoped it would have been my other sketchbooks that are so close to the end. I'd also hoped to do more acrylic to use up the paint but that's how life went this year.

Ate a lot of fruit...

Tried (need I say "unsuccessfully") to win the $638 million lottery. The losing streak continued at the Christmas party and I didn't even use any of my drink tickets!

Another Christmas party at my friend's church. Treated Mom to spa for her present.

Just for interest, the front & back cover of the ALTERED sketchbook.

The end view on the scanner looked kinda cool...

So #17 put to bed. I have a shelf of my sketchbooks & journals in my bookcase.

Such a great idea! I need to start saving all the bits and pieces I use in everyday life too, they are so cool to gather in a project like this! Thanks for sharing!

Great altered sketchbook, you've been going wild with all sorts of techniques. I've never been able to do anything like that but your collages are so well laid out it's amazing. Liked the page of drawings you did at work too, it was cool the way you worked that in.
