I took a photo at the beach a long time ago and finally decided it was time to try to paint it.

Am hoping for some constructive feedback.

Super depiction of the water. Would be better if the helmet of the canoeist was coloured rather than white.

Love it! Exceptional water. I agree with Doug on the figure.

Wow, you did a great job with that water. It looks to me like it was fun to paint!

You've titled it, Wave Rider. That says the figure is your main subject. Your reference photo may be showing your subject behind the water spray, but in the painting it needs to be less obscure.

I did take your comments into consideration and believe I have improved upon the original painting. I thank you for taking the time to help me to "see" through your eyes. The update has more green in the water than the original and I like it better. I toned down the yellow in the splash so the eye doesn't get attracted by it. Had to do some manipulation on the photo in order to get it close to what the painting looks like - it is still slightly different but I don't know what else to do.

I don't believe I can do any more with this particular painting and will now consider it done.

Thanks again.

Much, much better, Barbara. Your water is marvelous...action and movement in watercolor is difficult to capture and you did a superb job! Seriously, not many could carry it off!!! My preference would be that a little teeny, tiny (just an indication) bit of red showing near where the Kyak begins would be nice, but not an important detail.

I applaud your work on this!
