This one is in a Derwent landscape format sketchbook, 16.54 x 7.08 inches. The paper is only 110lb so was a disaster with watercolour. Fine with ink.

and what I used

I hadn't drawn with twigs and inks for a long time and it was something I really liked. So, out into the garden to cut some twigs and have a play :)

O I love these! Your light & shadow are so good. A nice use of the long landscape format.

Viv, these are so beautiful! I love the textures you got with the twigs. I've never tried that, so I think I'll have to have a go someday. Like the panoramic format too, that must be a wonderful journal.

Great depth and sense of distance in this. It might be the panoramic format but it feels like there's distance in all directions looking at it. Beautiful sense of undergrowth and feeling of being dwarfed by trees.

Thank you all for such thoughtful comments :)

That's what I wanted to catch Rob, so I'm delighted it came through.

Great sketches!!! I love the look of the varied lines from your twigs. There is an urban sketcher that uses sharpened sticks. If I can find the link to his work I'll post it for you. He did a class at the Urban Sketchers Symposium in Barcelona.

Yes Kiah Kian ... I love his sketches, so lively.

Nice cheap tool as well :)

I just wish this sketchbook had heavier paper Rob. It's Derwent and 110lb. Fine for ink or drawing but no good at all for watercolour. I want S&B to do this format.

Ditto the other comments, I have one of those extra long sketchbooks some where, it might be fun to take to the beach.
