These are taken from historical photos of the last century of trains of New Brunswick, Canada, where I grew up.
The first is the line that ran locally called the Kent Northern, the second is a wood train trestle in Port Elgin. I don't know how those people crossed those without fearing for their lives :-)
The third is a rural train station in Coal Branch, New Brunswick.
As always, they are studies, some day I hope to improve on them, I certainly learned a lot. They are all watercolour backgrounds on Canson paper, with soft pastels and Pitt pastel pencils for detail.
I have one only Rembrandt soft pastel, white, and I can really see the superiority in using it against the Mungyos. I also have Holbeins, still not as nice as the Rembrandt, but I'm too cheap to pay $4 for a stick, will have to wait for Christmas :-)

Nice study pieces, Christina! Each would make for nice painting compositions. My favorite is the last one, with maybe cropping a bit off the bottom. You better ask Santa for many, many more artist grade pastels!
