It was close to 100 degrees here again today but Fall is just around the corner. Can't wait!

Vey nice randy,
How did you keep the sweat off the paper?
Roasting up here in the San Fernando valley.
I've noticed you're posting a ton of work, do you always paint so much, so quickly or are you on some sort rush?

Simple, yet effective composition - and gorgeous (almost fall) colours!

Really nice, Randy! I like how you lost the edges of the trees near the top so our eyes don't spend too much time up there.

The smell and sound of leaves rustling in the breeze, was the first thing that came to my mind

Beautiful colors, Randy. Yes, our first hot day this summer. Stay cool.

Beautiful colors, yes, you can feel the first cool mornings of autumn in this painting!

Nice one Randy! For some of us Summer is a precious thing and we hate to think of it ending! I understand that it isn't the case where you live of course. Here in the UK we have had the first "real" summer for 6 years!!! I do not want it to end!

Beautiful Randy :) I was reading your blog yesterday and really enjoy it, you are inspiring to me as I just started a year ago and am going through a lot of what you did, like wishing I had more time to paint. I hope I paint as well as you one day.

What a beautiful painting. For me its charm is in its simplicity and doused (not hard and striking) colour.

Thanks, Matt. I have been posting a lot. Hopefully I won't wear out my welcome! ;)
I'm not in a rush. Just remembering that the only way to learn how to paint is to paint.....paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint, paint...

Hey, Karen. Thanks.
Great to hear from you. I hope all is well!

Thanks, Ruth. Oh, I'm not complaining. I actually love the hot weather. But I also look forward to the changing light and colors of Fall.
Glad to hear you are having a nice Summer this year. My Grandfather was from the UK and used tell us "Heard we had a great Summer. Missed it. I was in the bathroom". He was quite the character...

I love this one Randy, you really handle trees well. The peeks of blue are excellent, against those yellows it really sings. Another winner!

This is beautiful! I love the markings and lively color work. I'm from the East coast orig. and now a San Diegan. Yes, the Fall is a lovely time to be doing outdoor works. I am new to pastels and working my way through getting through the basics. What do you recommend for a pastel "kit" for plein aire treks? Really enjoy your work and stories. J

Thanks, John. I would look at the Terry Ludwig 60 piece sets. The Plein Air and the Arid Landscape sets both work very well here in Southern Cal.
