Hi everyone, I finally tidied up this sketch from my trip this month. It shows a view looking over the lily ponds near the Lighthouse in Killarney, ON. The ink was done on location and the rest finished at the campsite. There are many beaver trails through the reeds leading to the land, and the lilies cover most of the water in places.

My homemade sketchbook of Arches 140lb CP with WN paints transparent yellow, FUB, burnt and raw sienna, perm. alizarin, Staedtler liner, 5x8 inches.

Thanks for looking!

A beautiful place, Lynn; so peaceful looking. It's so great to sketch the places around you and have that to look back on to remember your time there.

Decided to tweak it a bit more, just took out the beaver trail.

I would like to relax in this place, with a book or my own sketchbook... I love your minimal use of linework... Your painting has a very fresh look about it that I admire.

Hello Lynn,
Such a nice fresh Summer feel to your watercolour. I love the black line throughout which is nicely placed. It brings strength to the composition.
I think both photos are the same, but this happens at times when you post the version too soon after you started the thread.
Do you have more to show.... wish you would share also over in Landscape :)

Lovely sketch with watercolor. Sketching always makes a place more than just a memory. Your watercolor goes nicely with the pen sketch .

Char, glad you like it!

Linda, thanks for the encouragement, I have posted in Landscape now :)

Thanks Jan and Bill, they are great memories, as soon as I see this I feel the wind at my back and smell the water and hear the gulls!

Thanks, Reiki, you can't beat mixed greens, especially when they are most of the painting.

I love your fresh and lively greens also, Lynn and the pink granite is a beautiful reminder of the geographic location of this particular rock in the woods!

Cheers, Anne

A lovely sketch Lynn - I thought I was not seeing properly as I couldn't tell the difference between the 2 pictures! Thanks for the information Linda - the same thing happened to me when I reposted a painting, and I couldn't figure out why it was the same as the first. Betty

Thanks, Betty! yes, I forgot that that happens....but it was a very distracting dark spot in the reeds across the pond, you didn't miss anything!
