I have not been into pure watercolors lately and I have been picking up my pencils again. This time I gave colored pencils a try. It was the playing arround with colored pencils that I discovered the possible use of watercolorpencils. I really never knew that watercolorpencils blend easy and have very strong colors when you apply layering and wet them after that.
So this is really serious attempt in fusing pencils and water together
I am using Mondeluz watercolorpencils on 140lb watercolorpaper and because of the complex structure I am panting on a small size (7x7)

Oooh, nice beginning. It'll be interesting to watch this as it develops. I love water soluble pencils.

Another way to use watercolor pencils is to stroke some on a scrap piece of paper to build up a strong block of color. Then wet your brush and moisten the block to dissolve it and use it like you would any other watercolor paint. ;)
You are off to a terrific start with your Diamonds painting.

Thank you Alice, Darla an Sylvia
Sylvia thank you for the tip, I will try that
As I was slowly progressing with the black background, I decided to pull out some black gouache to speed up the process, since I want the background solid black

This is really interesting Margareth... lots of fascinating patterns to enjoy... I didn't have much luck in getting my wc pencils to lay saturated colour for me, so I'll be watching this with interest.
