MY COMMENTS:
Recent hand study from my sketchbook. This is graphite with charcoal background. I want to improve my eye for dimensions, realism, shading and composition. My goal is for realistic hand(s). :)

All critiques/comments/opinions as you see fit. The harder the look, the better. :D

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Is it representational of a hand/fingers wrapping around a walking stick? Anything you can tell me would be very appreciated. :)

you are getting a strong hand.
I wish you were a bit more fearless and could push those darks right into the flesh more
finding the dark inthe light
finding the light in the dark
and finding the tilt in the straight are important nuances that help get proportions to work.

Stephanie...this is a really good sketch. 2nd finger looks a little "distant" from the hand itself. May need some shadow to connect. Well done!:)
